SCM Srl receives category & overall Dame Award from mets
A record number of marine manufacturers, a total of 43 overall, participated this morning to the announcement of the DAME award winners for the 8 selected categories by the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam.
The DAME award, organized by METS, the world’s largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry, recognizes those products that best meet the following criteria: Innovative distinction from other products currently in the market, beneficial and functional for the marine industry or the consumer and with an attractive design and style. A total of 133 products from 32 different countries were submitted this year to the DAME competition.
SCM took home the CATEGORY AWARD this year in the Interior Equipment category and the most prestigious OVERALL AWARD for its REVOLVING PORTLIGHT WITH PHASES MOTION. The company, known for its high quality Stainless Steel marine equipments, re-invented the concept of round portlight creating the revolving portlight that features a unique and innovative rotation movement of the window. The window rotates by maximum 110° in respect to the portlight base. Rotation can be towards right or left direction depending of the installation on board the boat. SCM revolving portlight enables to define the rotation direction of the window using only one part number. This feature is integrated within the rotation pivot. Rotation pivot has a double detent feature, one to stop the window in the open position at 110°, the other to align the window to the base during closure. SCM revolving portlight is available in four different diameter dimensions: 150, 200, 250 ad 300mm. Portlight features are the same as SCM normal series but the latching system is exclusively with wing nuts. The unique and innovative rotation movement of the window gives the opportunity to reduce the internal protrusion and enable the use of curtains contemporary to the opening of the window. It also reduce the chance of injuries on board. SCM revolving portlight is suitable for installation on board boats complying with CE standards (up to 24 m), in area I, III and IV engine-driven and sail unit Cat. A B C D.
